Coimbatore, 19 September 2026. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University has moved its undergraduate admissions 2026-27 into the final stretch. Its constituent colleges commenced on 16 September (Annamalai University's Faculty of Agriculture on 17 September), after a 15 September day of offline counselling for the 7.5% government-school quota (Round III), the vocational general quota and the academic supplementary applicants. The September schedule lists only one item after that: spot admission, dates to be announced after college commencement.
What was still vacant. The last published position, TNAU's vacancy after Round II of 19 August, showed 1,522 seats open across the general counselling: 205 in the 18 constituent (government) colleges and 1,317 in the 28 affiliated private colleges and Annamalai University. The 7.5% quota had 139 seats left after its Round III. The 10 September offline round for second-phase applicants and the supplementary round of 15 September have since filled some of these; the day-of list will be the one that counts.
Who spot admission is for. Under the 2026-27 brochure (section 3.4, G.O. (D) 309 of 27.09.2024) spot admission is an offline, rank-ordered counselling at TNAU Coimbatore for affiliated colleges only; vacancies in the government colleges are left unfilled. TNAU applicants who did not attend earlier counselling, attended but got no seat, or hold a management-quota seat may come; those who took a seat and cancelled may not. Candidates are called in a ratio of about 1:10 against the vacancy, choose a college and seat on the spot with no upward movement, and pay the counselling fee plus an admission fee of Rs 20,000 on campus before joining immediately.
Fees stay fixed. Affiliated-college seats taken in spot admission carry the same Government-fixed all-inclusive fee of Rs 50,000 a year (Rs 40,000 / Rs 70,000 at CAT Theni, TRIARD Perambalur and KRISAT Usilampatti). The portal's spot-admission guideline link still shows the 2025-26 document, under which last year's spot admission was held on 18 September 2025 at the Anna Auditorium; the 2026 date has not been posted as of today.
