How TNAU spot admission works (brochure section 3.4)
Affiliated colleges only. Vacancies in the constituent (government) colleges are not offered; they stay vacant for the year.
Offline, rank-ordered. Attendance is marked, attendees are ranked, and candidates are called by rank to pick a college and seat from what is available. A choice once made is final; there is no upward movement.
Vacancy published on the day. College-wise and community-wise, on the TNAU website, with a press release if needed; candidates are called in a ratio of 1:10 or more against the vacancy.
Who may attend: applicants who have not attended earlier counselling, who attended but got no seat, or who hold a management-quota seat. Not eligible: those who took a seat and cancelled or discontinued, or who already secured an admission.
Fee: counselling fee only from those who take a seat (₹3,000 / ₹1,500 SC-SCA-ST); admission fee ₹20,000 paid on campus that day; join the college immediately with the educational certificates.
After spot admission the affiliated colleges may fill the lapsed seats themselves under G.O. (D) 309; nobody is admitted after TNAU announces “completion of admission”.
