JEE Main 2027 Exam Date — Session 1 on 22, 23, 24, 28, 29, 30 January 2027 (NTA)

JEE (Main) 2027 Session 1 is proposed for 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January 2027, with 31 January held as a buffer day — that is the entry in NTA’s examination calendar released on 16 September 2026. It is the first official date for JEE Main 2027. Registration dates, the Information Bulletin and Session 2 have not been announced.

What is and is not known. Known: the January window above. Not known: the application window, the exact shift plan, and Session 2 (held 2–8 April in 2026). NTA calls the calendar tentative — treat the Information Bulletin, when it appears on jeemain.nta.nic.in, as the binding document.

Session 2 and what the two-session system means

JEE Main runs twice: a January session and an April session. You may sit either or both; the better of your two NTA scores is used for the All India Rank, for NIT/IIIT/GFTI admission through JoSAA and for JEE Advanced eligibility. In 2026 Session 2 was held on 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 April. NTA’s calendar currently ends in March 2027, so the 2027 April dates will come in a later release.

VIT, SRM and other deemed universities hold their own tests (VITEEE, SRMJEEE) around April–May, after Session 2.

What to do between now and January

Keep documents ready: NTA’s standing advisory asks candidates to update Aadhaar, category (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) and UDID certificates before the application form opens — corrections mid-window are what delay most students.
Watch jeemain.nta.nic.in for the Information Bulletin; registration for the January session typically opens in the preceding October–November (the 2027 dates are not yet notified).
Use the 2026 question papers NTA has published on the JEE Main portal (all Session 1 and Session 2 shifts) as the most reliable practice set.
Decide on Session 2 early: sitting both sessions is free of penalty and the better score counts.

What is the JEE Main 2027 exam date?
