TNEA 2026 Final Vacancy Position — After SCA to SC Conversion Counselling

This is the closing position of TNEA 2026: after Rounds 1–3, supplementary counselling and the SCA-to-SC conversion round, 136,388 of 177,342 general academic seats were filled (76.9%) and 44,450 remain vacant across 422 colleges. In the government-school 7.5% quota, 14,370 of 14,378 seats were filled and 10 remain. A further 2,601 seats are vacant in the vocational stream. Every figure below is computed from the Directorate of Technical Education's published vacancy statements and seat matrix — college by college, branch by branch, community by community.

Where the seats went — round by round

Reading note: “Total seats” is DoTE's seat matrix published before special-reservation counselling. 3,478 of the vacant general seats (and 2 of the 7.5% ones) sit in courses that were sanctioned after that matrix and so have no intake row — they are counted in every vacancy figure but not in seats or filled. One course (code 1319, EEE) reports more vacancy than its published intake; filled is floored at zero there.

The supplementary round took 8,823 general seats and the SCA-to-SC conversion round a further 395. DoTE published no separate 7.5% statement after the conversion round, so the 7.5% figure after supplementary counselling (10) is the final one for that pool.
