MCC released the provisional Round 1 seat allotment result for NEET UG 2026 on 20 August 2026. Across All India Quota, deemed, central and ESI seats, 29,945 candidates were allotted a seat in 606 colleges. Deemed university MBBS seats are open merit — no category reservation — so a single closing rank covers each college. 11,627 deemed MBBS seats were allotted in Round 1.

• Allotted and happy? Report to the college within the reporting window — 22–31 August 2026 for All India Quota. Miss it and you forfeit the seat.
• Allotted but want better? You can opt for upgradation in Round 2 — but read the free-exit rules carefully before you decide, they differ by quota.
• Not allotted? Round 2 goes considerably deeper. Compare your rank against the closing ranks above to build a realistic Round 2 choice list.
• Check the state list too. Tamil Nadu state counselling runs in parallel — many students get a better seat there than through AIQ.

Is this the final cutoff?

No. This is MCC's provisional Round 1 allotment, which can be revised before the final result. It is still the most accurate guide available to where 2026 ranks are landing.

Will Round 2 ranks go deeper?

Almost always, yes. Candidates who do not report, who upgrade, or who leave for a state seat release seats back into Round 2, so closing ranks typically move considerably deeper. Use the Round 1 figures as your floor, not your ceiling.

Where do Tamil Nadu students fit in?

5,795 of the 29,945 Round 1 allotments went to 66 colleges in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Remember this is only the All India Quota and deemed route — the 85% state quota is counselled separately by the Tamil Nadu selection committee.
