Tamil Nadu fills 85% of government MBBS seats (plus all private/self-financing seats) through state counselling run by the Selection Committee, DME — under The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. How the rounds move

Unlike AIQ ranks, TN state closing marks shift only a little between rounds — mostly down by 5–15 marks as seats refill, though a few colleges (e.g. Tirunelveli OC 547 → 557, ESIC Coimbatore OC 548 → 554) actually closed higher in Round 3 because upgradation churned the seats. Strategy: take your Round 1 allotment if it's in your top choices; count on later rounds only for a district-level college, not for a jump into the Chennai three.

2026-equivalent marks — adjust before you compare

Re-NEET 2026 was notably higher scoring than 2025, so a 2025 closing mark understates what the same seat will need in 2026. Converting each 2025 mark through both years' score distributions (with the candidate-pool adjustment) gives this correction:

2025 closing mark2026-equivalentAdjustment

Applied to the headline colleges, the 2026-equivalent closing marks look like:

CollegeOC 2025 → 2026-eqBC 2025 → 2026-eq
Madras Medical College609 → ~610591 → ~595
Stanley Medical College581 → ~588572 → ~581

Coimbatore Medical College558 → ~565551 → ~558
Chengalpattu Medical College551 → ~558545 → ~551
Thanjavur Medical College550 → ~557544 → ~550
Newest district GMCs (BC band)500–517 → ~506–524

Method: 2025 mark → all-India position on the 2025 distribution → pool-adjusted (÷1.1036) → equivalent mark on the official Re-NEET 2026 distribution. These are planning estimates (±5 marks); actual 2026 closing marks also depend on new seats and choice behaviour. Same caution as our rank-equivalence analysis: borderline = possible, not assured.

7.5% government-school quota — far lower closing marks

Government-school students (Classes 6–12 in a TN government school) compete in a separate 7.5% preferential sub-quota. 2025 Round 1 closing marks there were dramatically lower than the general government quota:

A government-school student with ~430–500 marks can reach government MBBS through this quota — 60 to 90 marks below the open government-quota cutoffs. The app's dedicated 7.5% tab covers all 63 colleges in this pool, all communities and rounds.
