What to do after the Round 2 result
- Allotted a fresh seat — log in to the portal, download the provisional allotment order (till 19 Sept 12:00 noon, extended), pay the fees and report to the college with original certificates by 19 Sept 5:00 PM (extended).
- Upgraded — your earlier seat is cancelled automatically. Collect originals from the Round 1 college, download the new order and join the new college by 19 Sept 5:00 PM (extended). Not joining forfeits BOTH seats.
- Retained — you stay in your Round 1 college; no action needed.
- Not allotted — wait for the Round 3 (mop-up) vacancy list; fresh choice filling opens for Round 3.
- Want to give up a seat? — use the Committee’s resignation portal (Notification No. 25) before the stipulated date so the seat is shown vacant in the next round.
Round 3 counselling — what comes next
After the 19 September joining cut-off, the Committee prepares the college-wise vacancy (unfilled seats + non-joiners + resignations) and announces the Round 3 schedule. What is the last date to join after the Round 2 allotment?
Download the provisional allotment order from the counselling portal by 18 September 2026, 3:00 PM and report to the allotted college with originals and fees by 19 September 2026, 5:00 PM (extended by Notification No.27). Missing this date forfeits the seat.
My application number is not found. What does it mean?
You were not allotted a seat in the 92.5% Government or Management Quota Round 2 lists. Candidates in the 7.5% government-school reservation pool have a separate list on tnmedicalselection.net. If you held a Round 1 seat and asked for upgradation but were not upgraded, you keep your Round 1 seat. All other candidates can take part in Round 3.
What do Fresh, Upgraded and Retained mean?
Fresh: you had no Round 1 seat and were allotted one now. Upgraded: you moved from your Round 1 college to a higher choice — you must join the new college. Retained: the seat you already hold was kept because no higher choice opened up.
When is TN MBBS Round 3 counselling 2026?
The Selection Committee will publish the Round 3 (mop-up) schedule and college-wise vacancy after Round 2 joining closes on 18 September. Vacancies come from unfilled seats, non-joiners and resignations. We update the Round 2 & Round 3 page and WhatsApp community the same day.
