TN MBBS Round 2 Result 2026 — Allotment, Joining Deadline & Round 3 Dates

Tamil Nadu’s Round 2 allotment for MBBS and BDS is processed and the result is due on 15 September 2026. Here is every date that still matters, what each kind of allottee must do before the joining deadline (now 19 September, 5 PM), the resignation portal, the Round 3 frame, and the Selection Committee’s own college-wise seat list.

TN MBBS & BDS Round 2 schedule 2026

Identical for both the 92.5% pool (Government and Management Quota, including NRI and minority seats) and the 7.5% pool for Tamil Nadu government school students. Stages up to 14 September are complete:

These are the bands the Selection Committee has called for Round 2. If your general rank falls inside the band for your pool, you are eligible to take part.

Round 2 rules that decide what you should do

Upgrading costs you the Round 1 seat. If you opt for upgradation and are re-allotted in Round 2, you must relinquish the Round 1 seat and join the new one. You have no rights over the Round 1 seat afterwards — even if you never report to the Round 2 college. So only opt for upgradation if you would genuinely accept every college you list.

Fresh allotments get a free exit. A candidate freshly allotted in Round 2 who does not report can still take part in later rounds without forfeiture. That protection does not extend to upgrade cases.

Fill choices against the virtual vacancy list. Virtual vacancies are seats held by candidates who have opted to upgrade and will be released if they do. TN processes them on 9 September — the day choice filling opens — so a college showing no clear vacancy today can still be allotted to you.

Choose preferred colleges only. Allotment is strictly by rank down your locked list. Listing a college you would not actually join is how candidates end up trapped in a seat they did not want.

Fee payment is part of downloading the allotment order. Freshly allotted candidates must pay tuition fee online to download the provisional allotment order. SC/SCA/ST/SCC candidates allotted under Government and Management Quota are exempt from the upfront payment subject to the parental income condition in the notification.

Round 2 result: how to check it and what to do next

The result appears on the counselling portal (counug.tnmedicalonline.co.in — 92.5% or 7.5% login) and, college-wise, as a PDF on tnmedicalselection.net. Then:

1. Freshly allotted? Pay the tuition fee online and download the provisional allotment order between 15 September and 12:00 noon on 19 September (extended). Report to the college with the order and your originals by 5:00 PM on 19 September. If you do not report, free exit applies and you can still take part in Round 3.
2. Upgraded? Your Round 1 seat is relinquished automatically. Download the new order, collect your certificates from the Round 1 college and join the new one by the same deadline — there is no going back to the Round 1 seat.
3. Retained or not allotted? A joined Round 1 seat stays yours. Anyone still without a seat waits for the Round 3 vacancy list, published after the 19 September joining deadline.

Fee exemption: SC/SCA/ST/SCC candidates under Government and Management Quota need not pay the upfront tuition fee to download the order, subject to the parental income condition. Carry: allotment order, NEET 2026 admit card and scorecard, class 10 and 12 mark sheets, transfer and conduct certificates, community and nativity certificates, and the government-school certificate for the 7.5% pool.

Round 1 joiners: the resignation portal

Notification No.25 (dated 7 September) opened the resignation portal on 9 September 2026 for candidates who joined a Round 1 seat. Log in with your original credentials, download the resignation letter and submit it to the college for return of your certificates. A resignation submitted before the Committee’s stipulated date is a free exit — no forfeiture of fees — but the seat is shown vacant in the next round and you cannot claim it again, so resign only once you are sure.

Round 3 and the stray round — the frame MCC has set

The Tamil Nadu Round 3 schedule is not out yet — at our check on 22 September 2026 the Selection Committee had published neither the Round 3 vacancy nor its dates, and MCC’s own Round 3 clear-vacancy file was not up either. MCC’s AIQ and State Schedule for Round 2, 3 and 4, dated 14 September 2026, gives the window every state must run inside:

Round 3 seats come from three places: seats left unallotted on 15 September, seats not joined by 19 September, and Round-1 seats surrendered through the resignation portal. The Committee publishes that vacancy college-wise before Round 3 registration opens.

The table below is the Selection Committee's college-wise, community-wise list — 82 colleges, 9,820 seats — as it stood on 24 August 2026, after special category allotment and before Round 1. It is kept here because it is the only community-wise breakdown the Committee publishes; after Round 1 it reports government quota as a single undivided number.
